Kilikya is located 800 meters from the hotel. It is in the town of Kızkalesi, at the 60th km of the Mersin-Erdemli-Silifke highway. It was inhabited extensively during the Roman and Byzantine periods, and also during the Islamic periods. From the artifacts unearthed from the necropolis area, it was understood that the first settlement here dates back to the 4th century BC. He had coins minted in his name in the 1st century BC. Herodotus writes that this city was founded by a Cypriot prince named Gorges. Since Korikos was a port city in the Cilicia region, it changed hands a lot. When Seleukhos Nikador founded the city of Silifke at the end of the 4th century BC, he took Korikos under his rule. The city came under Roman rule in 72 AD and remained under Roman rule for 450 years. During this period, it showed great development in agriculture and became an olive oil export center.
During the Byzantine period, it was surrounded by strong walls against Arab invasions. In the 13th century, Cilicia became an important trade port during the Armenian Kingdoms period and became the home port of Genoese and Venetian ships. Korikos was captured by Karamanoğlu İbrahim Bey in 1448 and rebuilt.
Inner and outer castle churches, cisterns, aqueducts, rock tombs, sarcophagi and stone-paved Roman roads are partially standing at the site. It takes its name from the castle on the island.
The square planned castle consists of two rows of walls, one inside the other. It is surrounded by a moat. The entrance to the castle was provided by a movable bridge that does not exist today. In its current form, the castle reflects typical medieval architectural features.
